TIL that street dogs in Russia use trains to commute between various locations, obey traffic lights, and avoid defecating in high traffic areas. The leader of a pack is the most intelligent (not strongest) and the packs intuit human psychology in many ways (e.g. deploying cutest dogs to beg).

Actually it’s really interesting story.

See the dogs were really suffering after the collapse of the Soviet Union — they were no longer receiving their kibble and vodka rations from the state and they couldn’t renew their plot vouchers so they lost all their land. After their numbers dwindled due to starvation and angry humans, they appointed a representative, Lizun Laikovich, to petition the government for aid. Unfortunately due to Yeltsin being hollowed out piñata of a person full of hot air and bullshit, nothing got accomplished. That was until Lizun met with then prime minister Putin in 1999. Due to Putin’s ability to communicate with animals, a deal was struck with the dog society where in exchange for food, water, shelter, paramilitary combative, survival, and intel training, and biscuits, the dogs promised to use their packs to keep an ever-vigilant eye upon the citizens to watch out for descanters. To this day Russian citizens are wary of dog packs roaming the outskirts of towns, fearing that the furred oprichniki may view them as easy target.
