woke 16 year olds on tumblr, consecutively: you are not immune to propaganda you are not immune to propaganda you are not immune to propaganda you are no

When ur so contrarian you loop back into being a bootlicker to own the libs

16 year olds on tumblr hating corporations have done more good for society than corporations themselves

This post is about not understanding the difference between someone saying an ad was funny and someone saying “I’ll buy this product because they get the issues man”.

This post is about how teenagers don’t get nuance (they don’t)

sis the point of ads being funny is to train your brain to associate a positive feeling with the brand that is being advertised. I’m not going to post the image again but that is literally and actually what they have been designed to do with absolute brutal efficiency because that shit works.

sure teenagers don’t understand nuance but this is not about nuance. corporations are not people, they are not your friends, and they sure as shit do not need regular-ass well-meaning people sheltering them from criticism. maybe 16yos don’t understand the depth of “you are not immune to propaganda” but they are correct to be suspicious of corporations that are trying to advertise directly to them by being hip and funny and relatable. they are corporations. they want them to buy their products and recognize their logos and feel good when you think about them. it is not cringe to be hyper-aware of attempts to manipulate you.

advertising is a multi-billion dollar industry and some of the smartest people in the entire world have poured resources into it such that it became that and see to it that it has a profound effect on human psychology. it quite literally Is That Deep.

  11. homie-koyomi said: Y'all kind of miss the point that these accounts are also usually run by people just trying to make a living and get by. Even if they are a figurehead for corporations, that’s no reason to spit venom at them. They’re just cogs trying to get by in this hellworld like the rest of us.
